The majority of my Norwegian surnames are from the Northern part of Norway. From the counties of Finnmark, Troms, Nordland, and Sor-Trondelag. The majority of my Swedish surnames are from the Counties of Gävleborg, Jönköping, Kristianstad, and Malmöhus. However, there are other counties inter-mingled throughout the site.

When looking for names of persons, names of farms and counties you must be open minded and flexible. There was no set pattern for spelling years ago, and names were spelt as they sounded to each recorder, so therefore there were many various spellings of the same name. Also be aware that many farm names and parish names changed through the years.
